Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus with Android Bean officially announced

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S2 Plus, a slightly more souped up version of its hugely successful flagship kit that landed two years ago.

Rumoured for almost a year, S2 Plus was quietly unveiled today in a press release that described it as basically the same great handset that was the original S2, except now with a ?nature-inspired user-interface and intuitive features that greatly boost its usability and functionality?.

Essentially the S2 Plus features the same Nature UX interface that was debuted on the Galaxy S3, along with some nifty features such as Smart Stay - a screen-awake mode that tracks your eyes to keep the screen on as long as you?re looking at it, and Smart Alert, which notifies you about missed calls and updates by simply picking up the handset.

Also on board is the latest Jelly Bean iteration of Android (version 4.1.2), which brings numerous improvements, including an enhanced notifications panel and a smoother, faster user experience courtesy of Project Butter.

Everything else about the handset is largely identical to its forebear, with a spec sheet that includes a 1.2GHz dual core processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and an eight-megapixel camera.

Pricing and availability details of the S2 Plus are still under wraps but we expect these to be revealed in the weeks to comes, so keep ?em peeled.

UPDATE: We've just received word from out friends at Omio that Samsung currently has no plans to release the S2 Plus in the UK.
