Rumor: Microsoft to Use Skype on Next-Gen Xbox

skype

According to CVG, a source tells the outlet that Microsoft will be consolidating it?s communication services around Skype, which the company purchased in 2011 for a hefty $8.5 billion.

Microsoft has already announced the discontinuation of its MSN chat service, which is to be replaced by Skype, while a recent job posting related to its next-gen Xbox, that also happens to be based out of the Skype offices in the UK reads,??The team you?ll join is responsible for Skype in the living room (broadly the home), across various devices but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox.?

It certainly shouldn?t be long before Skype is the default chat and video service for Windows across PCs, tablets and the Xbox platform.
