Jamaica to probe case against Guyana police chief (AP)

GEORGETOWN, Guyana ? Authorities in Guyana say Jamaica is sending a team of detectives to probe rape allegations against the South American country's police chief.

Presidential spokesman Kwame McKoy said Thursday the team will arrive by month's end and later present their findings to prosecutors. McKoy said a foreign team was requested because no one has seniority over Police Chief Henry Greene, who has led the department since 2006.

Greene was placed on leave in December after a 34-year-old woman accused him of raping her at a hotel in late November and said officers refused to take her complaint.

The U.S. had revoked Greene's visa in 2006 following drug trafficking allegations that he has denied.
